ABOUT THE AUTHORS
John W. Pickering is a retired educator who taught at both the elementary school and university levels, and Marisue Pickering is a University of Maine professor emerita. They enjoy traveling, studying history, and learning about their own and other cultures. During their professional years, they both published books and articles in their respective fields. They began travel writing and travel photography a number of years ago, and John’s photographs have appeared in International Travel News, institutional newsletters, and other media. Marisue’s travel and other essays have appeared in Echoes, The Maine Scholar, Northern New England Review, Route 66 Magazine, Common Threads, Episcopal Life, and International Travel News.
